Brandy Hotchner, student and protégé of the late Sandra Seacat who pioneered the integration of Jungian Dream Work into Lee Strasberg’s Method acting technique. This work is a courageous exploration of the vast terrain of our unconscious. By accessing the creativity and depth of knowledge from the landscapes of your dreams, you will emerge with a rich resource of inspiration and truth, deepening your connection to your artist-self. You will leave with a new practice to carry into your everyday life that will foster expansion, authenticity, respect, and joy.

The Retreat

March 7th – 15th

Beginning on the 7th we will enjoy dinner together and move gently into this work with your first dream assignment. We will work over the next seven days through dream assignments, active imagination, exploration of the waking dream, and somatic relaxation/sensory exercises to deepen the artist’s understanding of their artistic self and its expression in the world. Each morning begins with a guided meditation of Sandra Seacat’s called The Green Light; inviting our imaginations, consciousness, and humanity to expand. There will be two sessions each day with lunch between. The evening hours after dinner will be free to commune, and enjoy both the beautiful surroundings and each other. We could not be in a more picturesque and sacred place for this marvelous work. All artists are welcome.

*Not included is air travel and transfers from Rome to location, travel insurance, and other travel expenses. We will only provide guidance and resources for your transfer.

All payments are non-refundable. It is highly suggested you get travel insurance to protect your trip against unforeseen circumstances.

About the Monastery Fortezza Santo Spirito and Our Accommodations

Scene Study

Nestled at the base of the Apennines, the Monastero Fortezza di Santo Spirito will be ours alone for the retreat. An 800-year-old Italian National Monument described as “a precious and important jewel of medieval architecture.” It is located in the municipality of Ocre in the province of L’Aquila in Abruzzo, Italy. Approximately 2 hours from Rome by bus, the Monastery is surrounded by forest and hiking trails that were historically used by shepherds in what is now the Sirente-Velina National Park.

The Monastery’s 12 bedrooms, each named after a particular wind, have been modernized from the ancient dormitories on the first floor in the East and West wings. Simple and cozy, these rooms overlook the central courtyard and each has its own bathroom. There are options for private, double or dorm style rooms. Our three meals a day will be Chef prepared.

Important notes about the accommodations and food.

  • The Monastery is ancient and has many stairs.
  • Includes three meals a day.
  • Meals will be a combination of meat and vegetarian dishes. Unfortunately, no special dietary requirements will be accommodated including vegan.
  • Wine is included with dinner. This is Italy!
  • Retreat price includes one celebratory night out at a local restaurant.

• On Friday, October 4th you will be asked to complete your registration. You will have 24 hours to do this and make your first payment.

• Any registrations left incomplete will forfeit their spot to the next person on standby.

Accomodations

Payment options:

  • Pay in full upon registration.
  • Pay in two payments, 50% due today, you will be auto charged on Feb. 1st for the remainder
  • Pay in three payments 33% due today, you will be auto charged for the remainder in two separate payments December 1st and February 1st
  • There will be a $2.00 fee for payment plans.

Other:

  • We will require you to digitally sign an attached PDF with your registration. Prepare yourself to download our contract and upload with registration later this week, a signed copy, either digital or print and scan. We will send further details about this later this week.
  • There will be no refunds for paid tuition. 
  • You can cancel within 60 days to pursue credit with AZAA.
